Meet Pastor Darrell

I have had the privilege of living in New Glarus for five years now and I love this community. I am so thankful for the opportunity to do ministry in such a family-friendly town and with such a wonderful and growing church family!

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up in Platteville, Wisconsin. I went all the way through the Platteville school system; from kindergarten through graduating from Platteville High School and then after four years of study I received my bachelor’s degree in business administration from UW-Platteville. I have spent most of my life in the southwestern portion of Wisconsin. I have also lived in La Crosse, Mount Horeb, Madison and then for the last five years in New Glarus.  So, I am definitely a South-Western Wisconsin kind of guy. But we also spent a dozen years in the Northwoods as well. I pastored a church in Rhinelander Wisconsin during my earliest years of full-time ministry. All four of our children were born there and are proud Hodags by birth.

I came to faith in Jesus Christ at the age of twenty-four and immediately was called into ministry.  At that time, God called me and an old friend to start a Christian Coffeehouse in Platteville. After three years of coffeehouse ministry, I went to seminary at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, TN. I graduated with a master’s degree in Pastoral Ministry. Since then, I have had the privilege of being in pastoral ministry for twenty-five years.

I have been blessed with a beautiful wife named Lynn. She is my best friend and life-long ministry partner. She leads our worship team and is also the church office administrator. We have been blessed with four children, ranging in age from 24 to 14 years old (as of 2024).

For many years we have followed our children from one sporting event to another (soccer, basketball, volleyball, and karate). They have also all been involved in AWANA and other local Homeschool programs such as Reach and Flame. We have homeschooled all four of our children. Lynn’s mother has lived with us for many years and has been a blessing to us by being the primary homeschool teacher.

New Glarus Bible Church is a wonderful church family, and we invite you to come and visit some Sunday! I invite you to pick up your bible, get a cup of coffee, get comfortable on your couch and join us for one of the many worship services that have been posted on our website or just come and visit and I promise you will be warmly greeted at the door and welcomed into our worship service and church family.

In God’s mighty grip of grace,

Pastor Darrell Boomer
